Socio-economic impact of COVID-19 and beyond on women domestic workers in Nepal

While the pandemic has impacted domestic workers in Nepal at multiple levels, one of the main consequences of COVID-19 has been the reduction of employment, the working hours and, in some cases, a loss of jobs, resulting from fear and restricted mobility associated with confinement measures of lockdown. With a lost of reduced source of income, most of the domestic workers are facing an economic crisis which has in turn reduced their capacity to manage daily food expenses, provide education and health services to their family and save money for future use.
