A Global Handbook: Parliaments as partners supporting the Women, Peace and Security Agenda (Nepali Translation)
Nepal is one of the state parties to UNSCR 1325 and 1820, both of which chart out a clear pledge and call for action to protect and provide security to women and children from the potential risks of the armed conflict. Nepal has already implemented the first National Action Plan (NAP I) for effective implementation of these resolutions. Implemented between 2011 to 2016, the NAP I is being extended in form of NAP II to address the issues of justice, livelihood and security of women and children who were subjected violence during the decade long armed insurgency in Nepal.
This global handbook adapted in Nepali brings about the global experiences and seeks to inspire and reinforce the implementation of such National plans. It is a specifically prepared tool for the parliamentarians to remind of their role and duty towards addressing the women, peace and security (WPS) agenda. The handbook can be useful for the peace practitioners, conflict affected communities and policy makers. UNDP's Parliament Support Project appreciates the Women and Social Committee of the Federal House of Representatives for their encouragement and keen interest towards translating the global handbook and making it available to larger Nepali community.
